A box of five heads, two values printed on the side, and still the same question appears under every product listing, namely whether the part fits the device. A Justfog coil is not one single consumable. Several families were launched at different times, and some have quietly left the shelves. This market watch sorts them out from two documents published by the manufacturer, its notification register and its catalogue, then cross-checks them against retailer listings.

Justfog coil, four families and some pods

Four families of heads sit under the brand, and the pods add a fifth case, where the heating part is built into the cartridge. The ohm value alone does not identify a Justfog coil, the family does.

The OCC head, in 1.2 and 1.6 ohm, fits the 14 and 16 series tanks and is by far the most widely listed among the pages consulted. Tanks in the 1453 and Maxi line take a 2 ohm head, and the Fog 1 kit drops to 0.5 ohm. The FF family, the newest, comes in a single 1.2 ohm value.

The device lists come from several retailers, which do not always name the same models. A device missing from every list is best checked against its own manual before ordering.

What the notification register declares

Justfog publishes on its website the list of products notified under the Tobacco Products Directive, with their number and date. Three rows carry the label “Coil Cylinder”, the term for a replacement head, and all three date from 17 November 2016.

The 1453 head, the oldest reference

The “1453 Coil Cylinder” carries number 00692-16-00002, right after the 1453 tank, which opens the brand’s numbering. Two retailers list it at 2.0 ohms, shared by the 1453 and the Maxi.

It is the highest value in the range. It belongs to a generation of tanks older than the 14 and 16 series, and none of the listings consulted present it as compatible with a later device.

The OCC head, the one for the 14 and 16 series

The OCC head, short for “Organic Cotton Coil”, was notified on the same day as the C14, G14, Q14, P14A, P16A and Q16 tanks. Listings describe it with organic cotton and sell it in fives, at 1.2 or 1.6 ohm.

Two retailers keep it for mouth to lung vaping and for e-liquids with no more than 50% vegetable glycerine. At the same voltage, the 1.2 ohm takes about a third more power than the 1.6 ohm (P = V²/R).

The Fog 1 head, notified separately

The “FOG 1 Coil Cylinder” is registered under number 00692-16-00033, next to the Fog 1 kit. These are the only two rows in the register whose country list adds Poland to the fourteen markets shared by every other product.

Two listings give this head at 0.5 ohm. A value below 1 ohm points it towards far higher power than the OCC heads, which sets it apart despite the shared brand name.

British readers will spot a detail in the same table. Rows from 2016 to 2018 list Great Britain as “GB”, while the 2019 and 2020 notifications write “UK”. The register also declares the Minifit and C601 pods, with no head of their own, a point covered further down.

The FF family, one label for two parts

The FF label, for “Flavor Focused”, arrived with the Q16 FF kit. It now refers to two things, the head supplied with that kit and a part sold separately by the manufacturer.

A review published on 3 May 2022 and a retailer listing agree on the Q16 FF, with a vertical 1.2 ohm head, three power levels of 9, 11 and 13 W and a 1.9 ml tank. The same review states that the kit also takes the 1.6 ohm OCC head, which that retailer offers as a replacement.

The “FF 1.2 Coil” appears in the Starter Kit section of the Justfog catalogue, shown alongside the Q16 Pro Plus and the Q16 Pro kit. It is the only coil in that section’s product list. It does not appear in the register, whose last published row is the T3 Kit, notified on 10 January 2020. The gap most likely comes from that date and says nothing about the status of the part.

Justfog pods, where the head sits inside the cartridge

Part of the range has no separate Justfog coil at all. The heating part is built into the cartridge, and the whole cartridge gets replaced.

The Minifit is the best documented example. Two retailers list its cartridge at 1.5 ml and 1.6 ohm, and the register records it as “Minifit Pod”, on 24 October 2017, with no matching head. Looking for a Minifit coil therefore means looking for its cartridges.

The current catalogue files NUNA, Glent Pro, Aro, Glent and Myfit under a Pod Kit section kept apart from the tank kits. Their consumables are found under each pod’s name, not under the brand’s general coil listings.

Reading a Justfog coil compatibility listing

A Justfog coil listing that names several devices is worth reading in a set order. Three markers are enough to avoid the wrong box.

The first is the Justfog coil family, OCC, FF, 1453 or Fog 1, which some listings leave out and replace with the value alone. A 1.2 ohm head can be an OCC or an FF, two distinct parts.

The second is the device list. It varies from one listing to the next, some naming the P14 without the P16A or the other way round, and only the device manual settles it. The same reasoning applies to the Geekvape Zeus tank, where the coil family matters more than the name on the box.

The third is the e-liquid. OCC heads, built for a tight draw, cope badly with e-liquids very high in vegetable glycerine, while the Fog 1 at 0.5 ohm aims at another style of vaping. In the UK, nicotine e-liquid is capped at 20 mg/ml in refill bottles of 10 ml, and refillable tanks at 2 ml, rules that our file on how British rules shape the T-Juice catalogue sets out.

FAQ

These questions come up around the brand’s heads without being covered above.

How can you tell a Justfog coil is worn out?

The usual signs are a burnt taste, a flavour that fades despite a full tank and cotton that turns brown. Weaker vapour at the same setting points the same way. At that stage the head needs replacing, and no setting will bring it back.

Which coil fits the Justfog Q16 Pro?

Retailer listings point to the OCC head of the 14 and 16 series, at 1.2 or 1.6 ohm. The manufacturer also shows the FF 1.2 Coil next to the Q16 Pro kit in its catalogue.

Will a Fog 1 head fit a Q16?

None of the OCC compatibility lists consulted mention the Fog 1, and the two heads carry separate references in the manufacturer’s register. At 0.5 ohm, the Fog 1 head is unlikely to match the power of a Q16 kit either.

Does the FF replace the OCC head?

Nothing suggests so. Retailers still sell the OCC head at 1.2 and 1.6 ohm, and the Q16 FF itself takes the 1.6 ohm OCC according to a published review. Both families sit side by side.

What can you do with a 1453 tank and no spare head?

Listings for 2 ohm 1453 heads are few among those consulted, and no other family from the brand is given as compatible. Without stock, the remaining option is a tank whose heads are still distributed.

Justfog coil, the family before the value

Justfog has stacked its heads without changing the brand name, from the 1453 of 2016 to the FF in the current catalogue. The notification register and the manufacturer’s catalogue are enough to tell them apart, provided they are read together.

Before ordering a Justfog coil, identifying the family, then the value, then the device list avoids most mistakes. The same method holds well beyond this brand, wherever a maker keeps several generations of hardware alive under the same names, as the changes on the Vaporesso Luxe range also show.
